SOCIETY: RECONSTRUCTION, REFLECTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Conference aims to deliberate on the diversified issues of Social Reconstruction across the world. The process of Social Reconstruction is a vibrating issue in the present era but it has been often eluded in the academic arena. Social harmony has been affected due to human nature under the institutions of state, war, property, education, marriage and religion. Russell says "Man's impulses are not fixed from the beginning by his native dispositions. Within certain limits, they are profoundly modified by his circumstances and his way of life. Social reconstruction includes twin approaches: directly addressing the legacy of violent conflict through inter and intra-group reconciliation and indirectly building societal links by promoting reconciliation through society, based on development and cooperative action. Therefore, Social reconstruction depends upon the right understanding of the relation of individual to society. The reconstruction has disaster-afflicted areas, developing organizations and connecting the local needs with seeds in the society since emergency and recovery phaseā€¯.

Though traditional liberalism is at the core of the social reconstruction, it is the need of the hour to modify the internal and external tendencies of people, communities and nation. Modification in the tendencies should be brought by eliminating socially worse and preserving and introducing socially better circumstances and institutions. The tendencies which are capable of indefinite modifications are of immense social value as they generate social betterment, inclusion, tolerance, cohabitation and reconstruction with positivity. The root cause of the evils of the present system lies in the separation between the several interests of consumer, producer and capitalist. No one of these three has the same interests as the community or society. The free growth of the individual can be reconciled with the huge technical organizations which have been rendered necessary by industrialism

Society in general has been affected immensely under the range of revolutions worldwide which created a different social structure in a form of corporate body which was entirely independent of the family and its extensions and new corporate actor came into being slowly. The modem societies are in the midst of a transformation in their very basis of organization over the past two centuries. This is a change away from social organization derivative from the family. It is unpardonable to tie down a thinking human being to a view in the name of consistency. Offering a democratic way of life is a social responsibility and it is more important than consistency. There can be no finality in thinking and multiplicity is at the core of social harmony and reconstruction.

Change is the hallmark of a society to be democratic in the real sense. But too many changes in social institutions also adversely affect individual and social behaviors. Crisis in the form of state politics, war, political transition and communal/ religious conflict etc. perturbs the social structures enormously. While providing relief aid, fraught politics is often involved in distribution creating economic inequalities. In such circumstances, responsibility should be handed over to temporary bodies, usually in operation for one to two years. Non-judicial bodies with some degree of independence should be formed and officially sanctioned, authorized, or empowered by the host nation government. On the reflection, the other forms of justice such as the issuance of reparations to victims, the documentation of truth and mediation of ongoing disputes through traditional mechanisms should be resolved instantly. Retributive justice also entails strengthening the rule of law system to combat impunity and ensure the protection of human rights. For this all media and peace education can be promulgated in an effective way and by strengthening legitimacy and the process of democratization.

We will ensure that all considered views prove vital in the policy making process. Within this framework we are going to organise the Conference to develop further, the vast amount of research and data which will assist in developing a detailed policy for the reconstruction of society. The abstracts of the papers are invited on any dimensions of the major theme and following sub themes or any dimensions relating with the theme or subthemes:
